The Pilgrimage
If you don't have any close friends or family to support you in this challenge of stopping smoking, and you need, or would like to have help, it is available for the asking.  You need support for many things.   We all face pretty much the same problems and troubles.  If you know someone who is wealthy and seems not to have a care in the world, don't be deceived.  We all have troubles and problems.  That person's problems may be different from yours, but rest assured he also has problems, or will have problems later. Everyone must wrestle with their own problems. We are all wanderers and pilgrims on the earth.

Websters dictionary has 2 definitions for the word "pilgrimage", and both apply to all men:

1.  The course of life on earth.

2.  The journey of a pilgrim especially: a journey to a shrine or sacred place.

The Course Of Life On Earth

We are all on a pilgrimage, and are all wanderers and pilgrims on the earth.  The earth is not our home.   We will all be tried and tested during our pilgrimage on earth, and given the opportunity to make the most important decision of this lifetime.  Our pilgrimage will end, whether we have made that decision or not, at a place in time.  It will end with our passing from this life to everlasting life, or from this life to everlasting punishment.

The Sacred Place

When we die, we are all returned to our maker, our heavenly father, God.  Heaven is our home.  At the end of time we will all be judged, and those persons who made the decision to believe in Jesus will have everlasting life, and a joy that cannot be imagined.  The people who decided not to believe in Jesus, or who made no decision at all, will have everlasting punishment.

Finding Jesus

The people who do make the decision to believe in Jesus, and accept him as their savior, enjoy the benefit of his help during the rest of their pilgrimage.  They will still have problems and troubles, but they can call on Jesus for help, whenever they need it.  They do not have to face any problem alone, ever again.  At the time they decide to believe in Jesus they gain everlasting life in an instant.  Of course most people will continue on their pilgrimage, as they play a role in supporting another persons' pilgrimage.  Then in the fullness of time they are called home, to heaven, victorious, to everlasting life.

The Pilgrimage completed

We who must continue on our pilgrimage miss those friends and relatives who have been called home, even though we know that they have left victorious, and live now in the company of the Lord, and in the glory and majesty of heaven. The sorrow we feel is not because of our concern for them, but because we know we will not have that loved one to cherish, and to comfort us, on our own journey. Do not despair we will meet again.

How To Get Everlasting Life, And God's Help
John, chapter 3, verse 16, gives the requirements for everlasting life:

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Accepting Jesus

Salvation is the means by which we obtain everlasting life, and God's help in all that we do. To be saved you must believe that Jesus was the son of God, that his purpose on earth was to tell the entire world the good news, that each of us can rise triumphant from death, to live in eternal joy with him in heaven. He died and was resurrected into life again, that each of us may be assured that we too will rise from death. He assumed the sins of all mankind, past, present, and future. The bible states that the wages of sin are death, but he assumed our sins and died, that we might live.

How To Gain Salvation

You only have to ask for forgiveness, and confess your sins to God in prayer to be saved. Tell God in prayer that you want to accept Jesus as your savior, tell him that you know that you have sinned and ask him to forgive your sins and give you everlasting life. You will be saved instantly and become a new person. All of your past sins are forgiven, and are blotted out of God's record, the book of life. You will have a new life, a clean slate. Have you ever wished that you could have a fresh start in life, put all of your past mistakes behind you and start anew? You can, and you will become a new person.

You become a christian when you find jesus, and you can receive God's help in all that you do

When you accept Jesus as your savior you are saved from death and awarded everlasting life, and you become a christian, a follower of Jesus Christ. Christianity is also a religion that embraces many different churches.  It is a good idea to find a church you like, and attend church so you can enjoy the company of other christians, and have their support when you have trouble.  You will also have an opportunity to study the bible, and learn more about your new way of life.

Does Christianity put you in bondage?

No, Christianity sets you free. Your salvation brings God's help in your daily life, as God loves all of his children. You may also discover that most of your problems will seem smaller, and that you have a new joy in your life, that is not dampened by life's trials and testing. God will never leave you or forsake you, and even though you may walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you need fear no evil, for your salvation has also given you eternal life. After your time on earth has passed, you will be resurrected into a new life that has no end.

When You Make A Mistake

Many people say they are weak, that they will sin again. If you do sin, just ask God to forgive you, and he will. Once you are saved you only have to repent to be forgiven.  Even if it has been years since you talked to God, and you have more sins than you can count, if you have been saved, all that is required is repentance.
